Firetack Secondary Crew requirements include: no more than 4 individuals uncertified; all members must have ICS 100, First Aid with CPR, WHMIS and the applicable Firetack course; the leader must have TDG Air; two chainsaw operators (1 faller, 1 bucker) excluding the leader; two individuals with valid driver’s licences; all drivers must have a valid TDG Ground ticket; contractor provides two 4x4 trucks; crew must supply cellphone and GPS; and hires are guaranteed 5 days of work per hire. Firetack Zero Day requirements include: no more than 4 individuals uncertified; all members must have ICS 100, WHMIS and the applicable Firetack course; four members must have First Aid with CPR; crew leader must have TDG Ground; one chainsaw operator (bucker) excluding the leader; contractor may optionally provide 4x4 trucks, and if trucks are provided two crew members must have valid driver’s licences; all drivers must have a valid TDG Ground ticket; crew must supply cellphone and GPS; and hires are guaranteed 3 days of work per hire. Please contact your local forest area office or the Wildfire Management Branch Headquarters for more information.

This tender is suited to contractors who already provide trained wildfire crews and hold insurance plus a valid COR or equivalent and who can supply chainsaw-certified operators and required vehicles; key challenges include meeting the specific training requirements (note NFPA training is not accepted), ensuring TDG Air and TDG Ground tickets for leaders and drivers as required, and operating under non-guaranteed, as-needed contracts despite the minimum days guaranteed per hire.
