Released 2 months ago
About
Alberta Parks is seeking a supplier for engineering, design and construction administration services to assess, design and deliver parking, trail connector and signage upgrades for the Prairie Mountain staging development in South Kananaskis, covering Elbow Falls Day Use Area and Powderface Creek Trail Day Use Area. The work includes phased services from assessment and conceptual design through detailed design, approvals, issued-for-tender and issued-for-construction documents, construction administration and project close-out. At Elbow Falls the scope requires a feasibility study for adding an additional east-side entrance to Highway 66 with one-way traffic flow and redevelopment to increase parking capacity by 100 standard vehicle stalls, one bus transit stop and up to four pull-through RV/bus stalls, pavement repairs, refurbishment of the amenity area (re-gravelling, line painting and cleanup), installation of a third four-stall vault toilet, additional waste receptacles, a 1.2-metre-wide gravel connector trail along the northern edge of the expanded lot, signage upgrades using the Alberta Parks standard sign catalogue and one kiosk for the Prairie Mountain Trail. At Powderface the scope requires a feasibility study for expansion and redevelopment to accommodate 25–50 standard vehicle stalls, 3–6 pull-through RV/bus stalls and one bus transit stop, pavement resurfacing, one two-stall vault toilet and waste receptacles. Highway 66 works include installation of no-parking and speed reduction signage, Fullerton and Allen Bill DUA signage improvements and additional signage along the highway. The contract is to commence on October 1, 2026 and be completed by February 14, 2028. Location coordinates: Elbow Falls DUA 50.86755, -114.7838 and Powderface Creek Trail DUA 50.86507, -114.7920.
This opportunity is well suited to engineering consultancies experienced in parks-based (non-urban) design, parking and trail redevelopment and provincial signage/permit processes; key considerations include delivering feasibility studies for the proposed Highway 66 entrance, meeting regulatory and safety compliance and FMP objectives, and completing design and construction administration within the October 2026 to February 2028 schedule.
