Tender: Calgary Foothills Medical Centre NICU Decanting and Unit 62 Intensive-Care Upgrades

Alberta Infrastructure, through Shunda Consulting and Construction Management Ltd., is seeking a contractor to fully decant the Foothills Medical Centre Neonatal ICU from Level 5 of the West Wing into the existing General Medicine Inpatient Unit 62 and to upgrade Unit 62 to support intensive-care functions. The works include new air handling units with required redundancy, new medical gas distribution, substantial electrical upgrades, new data infrastructure, major asbestos abatement with demolition and reinstatement of most ceilings, and limited changes to the existing unit layout. Additional scope on Level 11 covers a SANTS room, equipment storage, and administrative spaces, and a new AHU will be installed on the west roof above the Timberline Cafeteria with ductwork routed up the building exterior into the decant space. The project is organized into three work areas executed as single phases, and includes a full-scale vendor-equipped headwall mockup prior to the production order of 42 headwalls; all work will be performed within an active hospital and is subject to strict Infection Prevention and Control requirements.
