The City of Saskatoon is seeking a supplier for the supply, delivery, installation and commissioning of a stationary electric shredder as part of a new 40,000-tonne Organics Processing Facility (OPF) to support diversion of residential and industrial, commercial and institutional organic waste; OPF commissioning is currently planned for August 2027 and the shredder work must be coordinated with overall construction, equipment installation and facility commissioning activities. The shredder will be installed in the OPF Receiving Building, which is designed to accommodate shredding and material handling operations and includes tipping floor areas, push walls, overhead services, conveyors, access doors and associated structural and civil works, and a wheel loader will be used to transfer organic material into the shredder. Respondents must register on the City’s electronic bidding system to access solicitation documents and submit bids; award notification and solicitation communications will be posted to that system. Submission Deadline: 2:00:59 p.m. CST, Monday, October 5, 2026.

This opportunity is likely most valuable to equipment manufacturers and contractors experienced in supplying and installing industrial stationary electric shredders and integrating them into organics processing facilities. Key considerations include the need to tightly coordinate delivery, installation and commissioning with the OPF construction and electrical works, work within the Receiving Building’s material-handling layout, and meet the facility commissioning schedule.
