Alberta Forestry and Parks is seeking contractors to provide Fireline and Mobile Equipment with competent operators to support wildfire pre-suppression and suppression across Alberta's Forest Protection Area. Required Fireline equipment includes dozers, excavators and all-terrain vehicles (e.g. hagglunds and nodwells) for constructing fire guard and transporting crews, equipment and water; Mobile Equipment includes tractor/trailers, water trucks, buses and hotshots for moving firefighters, water and gear. Contractors must supply operators who are at least 18 years old with a minimum of one year experience on the equipment, ensure operators have appropriate personal safety equipment, and present equipment that is clean, well maintained and in good working order. To qualify, contractors must provide valid WCB, a COR or SECOR certificate, and a certificate of insurance that meets Agreement requirements; payment is based on the ARHCA Equipment Rental Rates Guide or the Alberta Wildfire Payment Directive for equipment not listed. Contractors are placed on a call rotation list within a single Forest Area, there is no guarantee of work, and interested contractors must submit required documentation and contact their local Forest Area by email.

This tender is ideal for contractors that own and operate heavy fireline and transport equipment and already hold WCB, COR/SECOR and appropriate insurance; key considerations include meeting operator age and experience rules, maintaining equipment to operational standards, understanding there is no guaranteed work and that contractors may only hold one contract with a single Forest Area, and that payment follows ARHCA rates or the Alberta Wildfire Payment Directive.
