Tender: Measurement of 8 Ultraviolet (UV) Filters in Biobanked Urine from Children and Adolescents – Canada

Laboratory services needed to measure urinary concentrations of eight ultraviolet (UV) filter chemicals in biobanked urine from preadolescents and adolescents. The project will leverage urine biospecimens from the Maternal-Infant Research on Environmental Chemicals (MIREC) ENDO biobank to generate biomonitoring data for Health Canada risk assessors and for scientific publication, addressing gaps in data for children and adolescents and focusing on UV filters noted as potential endocrine disruptors. Work is phased: Phase 1 covers analysis of MIREC ENDO Phase 1 urine, with Phase 2 contingent on detection frequency and the quality of initial results, and additional analyses possible depending on risk assessor needs and biospecimen availability. Contractors must be ISO accredited and participate in proficiency/quality regimes such as the Canadian Association for Laboratory Accreditation (CALA) or comparable international programs. Access to MIREC samples is subject to approval by the MIREC Biobank management committee based on scientific validity, laboratory location/expertise and sample volume required, and samples cannot be transported outside of Canada.
