Tender: Monitoring Organic and Inorganic Contamination in CSA Labs for OSIRIS‑REx Sample Curation

The Canadian Space Agency is seeking a supplier for specialized monitoring services of organic and inorganic contamination in its laboratories and ISO 7 (or cleaner) clean rooms ahead of receiving Canada’s 4% portion of the OSIRIS‑REx returned sample. The work includes analysis of 200 mm silicon wafers by vapour phase decomposition (VPD) inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP‑MS) for trace metals, analysis of silicon wafers by thermal desorption gas chromatography‑mass spectrometry (TD‑GC‑MS) for organic compounds, and determination of organics in air by TD‑GC‑MS. Contractors must ship a series of 200 mm bare silicon wafers and absorbent tubes to the CSA, whose staff will expose them in the environment for 24 hours following the contractor’s instructions; the CSA will then ship the analytical equipment to the contractor for analysis by VPD‑ICP‑MS and TD‑GD‑MS. All sampling must be appropriate for cleanroom monitoring at ISO 7 classification or cleaner. Trace metal analysis must include Al, As, B, Ba, Be, Ca, Cd, Ce, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Ga, Ge, Hf, In, K, La, Li, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Ni, Pb, Sb, Sn, Sr, Ta, Ti, W, V, Y, Zn, and Zr. Wafers for organic analysis must follow the SEMI MF 1982-1103 Method‑B procedure. A sampling blank or transport control must be provided with the kits, and the contractor must supply any accessories required for sampling (for example stands and tweezers for wafers or pumps for absorbent tubes). Wafers and absorbent tubes must be shipped to minimize contaminants during transport to allow analysis of contamination in an extremely clean environment.
