About

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is seeking proponents to submit expressions of interest outlining potential approaches to ownership, redevelopment and long-term operation of the Buchans Hydroelectric Generating Assets. Submissions should describe potential uses for the facility, anticipated economic benefits and plans for ongoing operation and development; the EOI will allow the Government to assess the market, compare proposals and determine the approach that offers the greatest overall benefit to Newfoundland and Labrador and to identify proposals that support regional economic development, Indigenous participation, employment, investment and productive use of existing infrastructure. This EOI will not award a Power Purchase Agreement for energy from the facility, as it remains too early in project development for NL Hydro, Government, and potential proponents to make commitments regarding the structure or terms of a potential agreement.
