Tender: Elders and Elder Helpers to Provide Indigenous Cultural Support in CSC Prairies Institutions (EOI)

Correctional Service of Canada is seeking Elders and Elder Helpers to provide Indigenous cultural support, teachings, counselling and ceremonies to offenders in institutions across the Prairies Region, including individual and group sessions, spiritual services, escorted temporary absences for ceremonial purposes, advice to staff, participation in case conferences, and support for ceremonial objects and medicines. Interested Elders and Elder Helpers must be recognized by their Indigenous community, have a minimum of five years’ experience in the past ten years delivering spiritual and cultural services (including counselling and conducting healing ceremonies), be familiar with protocols for traditional medicines and spiritual effects, have community support, meet CSC security requirements, and maintain required insurance; CSC provides orientation, equipped spaces, help from Indigenous liaison or parole officers, and language pairing (French or English) where possible.
