Tender: Turnkey Laboratory Wind Wall System for Unmanned Aircraft Complex Flow Testing – NRC Mirabel
Released 5 months ago
About
The National Research Council of Canada’s Aerospace Research Centre (NRC AERO) is seeking a supplier to design, fabricate, deliver and commission a turnkey Laboratory Wind Wall System to support the Drone and Flight Autonomy Laboratory (DFAL) at the NRC Mirabel site for free‑flight testing of mid‑size unmanned aircraft in complex aerodynamic environments. The System must provide an open‑jet test section with a nominal 5 m × 5 m jet face (±0.25 m), bottom of jet face 3 m above ground, a Test Plane 5–6 m downstream with a minimum 4 m × 4 m uniform flow, and an optional expansion to 7 m × 7 m; airflow performance requirements include maximum axial wind at the Test Plane of 21–22 m/s (max axial turbulence intensity = 7%), adjustable streamwise turbulence of 7%–25% while maintaining max wind speed = 15 m/s, minimum axial wind 1 m/s, ramp‑up acceleration 10 m/s², ramp‑down deceleration −5 m/s², swirl number at the Test Plane = 0.5 (non‑dimensional), and independent synchronized fan control with 0.2 m/s incremental changes. The System must be turnkey, operable across Canadian seasonal conditions (no derating 0 °C to +30 °C, minimal derating to −20 °C), storable to −20 °C to +60 °C, meet IP34 (system) and IP65 (high‑voltage cabinet) protections, have a minimum 20,000‑hour operational life, comply with Canadian electrical and building codes and CSA certification, include foundation and support framing designed and installed by the Offeror with sealed professional engineering documents, provide secure, timestamped data output and control software compatibility (Windows/Linux), and be delivered and commissioned at NRC YMX Innovation Centre, Mirabel with bilingual (English/French) deliverables and a minimum one‑year parts and labour warranty.
