BGIS on behalf of Alberta Infrastructure is seeking a contractor to fully modernize the existing glass elevator at Prospect Point to the 2019 elevator code, including construction of a new elevator machine room. The scope includes electrical work to replace all conduit systems, power, lighting, and fire alarm that pass through the ceiling space at the top of the elevator shaft and five feet outside the shaft where they were affected by the fire; installation of new LED strip lighting above elevator thresholds on all floors tied into existing elevator lobby lighting controls to meet AEDARSA illumination level requirements; reprogramming of existing elevator lobby smoke detectors and control relays for homing and alternate homing of the new elevator controller; and provision and installation of new Cat6A, FT6 data cable from the existing wiring closet to the new elevator machine room.

This opportunity is likely most valuable to elevator modernization firms and electrical and low‑voltage/data cabling contractors with experience in code upgrades and fire-affected system replacements. Key considerations include compliance with the 2019 elevator code, working in ceiling spaces at the top of the shaft and five feet outside the shaft where equipment was fire‑affected, reprogramming smoke detectors and control relays for homing/alternate homing, meeting AEDARSA illumination requirements, and routing/installing Cat6A FT6 cable from the building wiring closet to the new machine room.
