The Ministry of Finance is seeking a supplier for lone worker devices and associated 24/7 live monitoring services to support approximately 28 inspectors conducting unannounced field inspections across Ontario under the Fuel Tax Act, Gasoline Tax Act and Tobacco Tax Act. Inspector safety is a critical priority given the potential for confrontational or unpredictable situations, and the Ministry is looking for solutions that include wearable devices, GPS location tracking, SOS/emergency alert functionality, automatic fall or man-down detection, satellite connectivity for areas with limited cellular coverage, two-way communication, real-time monitoring services, and administrative and reporting functionality. This Request for Information seeks market information on commercially available devices and services, encourages suppliers to identify additional safety or operational features, and asks that responses follow the numbering and format in Sections 3.1.1 to 3.2.1 of the RFI attachment.
