Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug (KI) is seeking pre-qualified General Contractors to submit qualification information for the construction phase of the Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug Wastewater System Upgrades and Expansion Project. Based on 99% design work by KI 209 Engineering, LP, the project includes construction of a new wastewater lagoon on the Mainland, expansion of the existing wastewater lagoon on Post Island, construction of new wastewater collection infrastructure, upgrades to existing wastewater infrastructure, and associated works. KI will short-list GCs through a Request for Pre-Qualification (RFPQ); pre-qualified contractors will then be invited to submit bids when the Tender is issued. The community is on the north shore of Big Trout Lake in northern Ontario (approximately 540 km north of Thunder Bay), divided between Mainland and Post Island and accessible year‑round by air with limited winter road access. The project has federal funding from Indigenous Services Canada and a current budgetary value of $80 million (including material pre-purchased by the Owner).

This opportunity is best suited to General Contractors with previous wastewater lagoon construction experience or directly transferable experience. Key considerations include the complexity of the work, the remote Mainland/Post Island location with year‑round air access and limited winter road access, and the project’s federal funding and $80M budget (including owner‑pre-purchased materials).
