The Board of Trustees of Edmonton School Division is seeking electric energy suppliers to provide the financial settlement differences arising from a fixed-for-floating price hedge (contract-for-difference) to meet the Division’s electric energy requirements. This is an open Request for Supplier Qualifications (RFSQ); revised RFSQ documents were uploaded May 7, 2025 and are available on the Bonfire Project Portal at https://epsb.bonfirehub.ca/opportunities/79695. Suppliers not already on the Qualified Supplier Roster are advised to submit promptly because second-stage competitive processes (Request for Quotes) are planned. The submission deadline of December 31, 2025 is a placeholder required by the bidding system, and, as stated in subsection 3.6.3, the Division may cancel or amend the RFSQ process without liability; the RFSQ was temporarily closed on April 7, 2025 at 11:00 AM Alberta Time and has since been re-opened.

This opportunity is likely most relevant to electric energy suppliers experienced in hedging and contract-for-difference settlement services, especially those not yet on the Division’s Qualified Supplier Roster. Key considerations include the placeholder submission date (Dec 31, 2025), the RFSQ’s temporary closure and re-opening, planned second-stage Request for Quotes, and the Division’s stated ability to cancel or amend the RFSQ under subsection 3.6.3; respondents should review the revised RFSQ documents uploaded May 7, 2025 on the Bonfire portal.
